Arnhold was created as part of an exploration in typography, and investigating how type and music interact with one another. What began as an analysis of this interaction, slowly developed into something much more. By the project’s completion, the foundation for a full typeface has been developed, including two of Arnhold’s weights.
Its mixed use of condensed and extended letterforms is inspired by The New School’s logotype designed by Paula Scher. In 2015, The New School introduced their freshly designed logo and new areas of study. Additionally, the school added a new dormitory for the first time in 30 years, Arnhold Hall.
