The two posters I designed are based off of different parts of Rockwell's design. The first of the two posters was inspired by the iconic slab serifs of the typeface. Since Rockwell is a slab-serif, it balances structural and natural elements, therefore I was visually inspired by blueprints. I also chose to include handwritten text to enhance this connection further, and mimic the natural/structural balance found in the type.
I was also almost immediately intrigued by Rockwell's origins and the history of wood-cut type. My second poster focuses on this history, and includes imagery to connect Rockwell back to wood-cut type by incorporating textured elements that are so prominent in older typefaces.
